Since the inception of the KMF, themes have been discussed ranging from a shifting global economic climate to a reclamation of the global ‘commons’ to a new context where uncertainty is normality to the need to generate growth with inclusion in an age of paradox, to whether or not good stewardship based on the political economy of location, environment, and demographics can overcome geography as destiny, to the juxtaposition between Artificial Intelligence and Human Intelligence and most recently, to we can Recalibrate Markets, Firms, Society and People towards a greater sense of Balance.

Nicholas Khaw joined Khazanah in April 2011 from the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department, where he started his career as a macroeconomist.
Currently, he is a Trustee at Khazanah Research Institute and is a monthly contributor to The Edge Malaysia’s Forum column.
He holds a Master in Public Administration in International Development (MPA/ID) from Harvard Kennedy School and completed his Bachelor of Arts in Economics at Harvard College, United States. He is currently a part-time PhD student in Political Economy Research at King’s College London.

Ridzuan Mohamed is a Director in the Research division of Khazanah. He has more than ten years industry experience as a sell-side equities analyst, having covered the Malaysian utilities, transportation and telecommunications sectors for a number of investment banks including UBS and Merrill Lynch. Since joining Khazanah in 2009, his research responsibilities have spanned the breadth of the organization, from GLC Transformation to Macro Strategy and Portfolio/ Business Strategy, and currently Public Markets.
Ridzuan is a Chartered Financial Analyst, and an economics graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Laura Deming is a venture capitalist and a leading figure in anti-aging research, dedicated to extending human life through biological innovation. After being homeschooled in New Zealand, she moved to San Francisco at age 12 to work in Cynthia Kenyon’s lab at the University of California. At 14, she was accepted to MIT to study physics but left to join the Thiel Fellowship and start a venture capital firm. Deming founded The Longevity Fund, which focuses on aging and life extension, raising $4 million in its first fund and $22 million in its second. In 2018, she launched Age1, a startup accelerator for longevity companies, and began advising the Pioneer Fund. Deming has been featured in Forbes “30 Under 30″ and starred in National Geographic’s “The Age of Ageing”.

Dr Nungsari, 63, is currently a Trustee of Yayasan Rahimah Yusof and a member of the Board of Directors of Bank Negara Malaysia. He was formerly the Executive Chairman of the Malaysian Aviation Commission and Chairman of Khazanah Research Institute Board of Trustees. He was also an Executive Director at Khazanah Nasional Berhad and the Principal Officer at Danainfra Nasional Berhad, Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Berhad and Syarikat Jaminan Pinjaman Perniagaan as well as the Managing Director at Prokhas Sdn Bhd.

Ahmad Zulqarnain Onn is Chief Executive Officer of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), the largest Malaysian retirement fund. He was previously Group Chief Executive of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), the largest asset management company in Malaysia. Prior to PNB, he was Deputy Managing Director of Khazanah Nasional Berhad, Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund, where he held various positions including Head of Strategy, Head of the Strategic Fund, and Head of the Financial Institutions Group. Zulqarnain was the founding Chief Executive Officer of a financial guarantee insurer which provided credit enhancement and structuring for large infrastructure projects.
He has had various roles in institutions leading debt restructuring and resolutions in the aftermath of the Asian financial crisis and at investment banks. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Harvard University.
